Green VW T5 Paint Repair

This van came to us a little worse for wear after someone used a product that was excessive to remove the vinyl lettering they wanted to take off and it took the paint off with it!

We had a job on our hands here…

Firstly all the side and front glass was removed to ensure a good paint seal, along with all the mouldings, handles and mirror units. Our immediate attention then turned to sanding the paint down to remove all the rough surfaces where the paint had been affected before we re-primed the panels.

We may make this all sound incredibly quick and easy but it is a task that has to be carried out to perfection as paint hides nothing, especially poor prep work!

Once the panels had been primed and prepped, it was time to establish the colour it had previously been painted! As our customer had bought it already in the custom colour they had no information as to what colour or type of paint it had been painted in! Given that the colour was a one-off pearl finish the task of establishing the colour began. Fortunately we have the assistance of full technical support with our paint mixing scheme when we need it (which isn’t too often!). With our combined knowledge / equipment and with Akzo-Nobels expertise we were able to match the colour, much to the delight of the new owner.
